Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For Cooking and Serving
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 burger buns
- lettuce leaves
- tomato slices
- mayonnaise
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until all ingredients are evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture to keep the patties tender.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a round, even patty approximately 3/4-inch thick to ensure even cooking.
- Heat the Pan: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat, allowing it to warm until shimmering but not smoking, which will help achieve a golden crust.
- Cook Patties: Place the chicken patties in the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on the first side without moving them to let a crust form. Flip the patties carefully and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) to ensure they are cooked through.
- Toast Buns: While the patties cook, lightly toast the burger buns either in a separate pan, toaster, or under a broiler for a minute or two until they are slightly crisp and golden.
- Assemble Burgers: Spread mayonnaise on the buns, then layer with lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and top with the cooked chicken patty. Close the burger with the top bun and serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground chicken if preferred.
- Adding caramelized onions or avocado slices can provide extra flavor and texture.
- For a lighter alternative, serve the patties wrapped in large lettuce leaves instead of buns.
