Ingredients
For the Chocolate Cake:
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 cups granulated sugar, ½ cup vegetable oil, 1 cup buttermilk, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup hot water
For the Dark Chocolate Mousse:
8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped, 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
For the White Chocolate Mousse:
8 oz white chocolate, chopped, 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
For the Ganache Topping:
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans.
- Prepare the chocolate cake: Combine dry ingredients, mix wet ingredients, and blend together. Bake and cool the cakes.
- Make dark chocolate mousse: Melt chocolate, whip cream, fold in chocolate. Chill.
- Make white chocolate mousse: Repeat steps for white chocolate. Chill.
- Assemble the cake: Layer cakes with dark and white chocolate mousse. Chill.
- Prepare ganache topping: Heat cream, pour over chocolate, stir until smooth. Pour over cake and chill.
