Ingredients
Scale
Pinwheel Base
- 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Fillings
- 8 ounces sliced deli turkey
- 1 cup baby spinach or arugula
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, whole berry cranberry sauce, honey (or maple syrup), and ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
- Spread the mixture on tortillas: Lay the flour tortillas flat on a clean surface. Evenly spread a generous layer of the cranberry cream cheese mixture over each tortilla, covering the entire surface up to the edges.
- Add turkey and greens: Arrange sliced deli turkey evenly over the cream cheese layer on each tortilla. Top the turkey with a handful of baby spinach or arugula for freshness.
- Optional nut topping: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the greens if using, adding a crunchy texture and nutty flavor.
- Roll the tortillas: Carefully but tightly roll up each tortilla into a log shape, ensuring the fillings stay inside as you roll.
- Chill to firm up: Wrap each rolled log tightly with plastic wrap and place them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This chilling step helps the pinwheels hold their shape when sliced.
- Slice and serve: After chilling, unwrap the rolls and slice each into approximately 1-inch thick pinwheels. Arrange the pinwheels on a platter and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- Prepare up to 24 hours in advance and keep wrapped in the refrigerator for convenience.
- For a flavor twist, substitute the cream cheese mixture with hummus or goat cheese.
- These pinwheels make great holiday appetizers, lunchbox snacks, or party tray additions.
- To keep the recipe nut-free, simply omit the chopped pecans or walnuts.
