Description

Tortilla Pizza Pockets are a quick and delicious snack or main course combining the classic flavors of pizza wrapped in warm, crispy flour tortillas. Perfect for an easy homemade meal or party appetizer, these pockets are filled with gooey mozzarella, pepperoni, and a flavorful blend of pizza sauce and Italian seasoning, then baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices or chopped pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

Optional Toppings

  • Red pepper flakes
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
  2. Prepare the tortillas: Lay one tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over half of the tortilla, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edge to ensure easy sealing.
  3. Add fillings: Sprinkle 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce-covered half, add a few pepperoni slices, optional black olives if using, and a light sprinkle of Italian seasoning for flavor.
  4. Fold and seal: Fold the tortilla in half to create a semi-circle, carefully pressing the edges together to seal the pocket. Use a bit of water along the edges if needed to help them stick securely.
  5. Repeat for remaining tortillas: Repeat the filling and folding process with the remaining tortillas and ingredients until all pockets are assembled.
  6. Brush with olive oil: Using a brush, lightly coat both sides of each tortilla pocket with olive oil to help them crisp up during baking.
  7. Bake: Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure they become golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  8. Serve: Let the pizza pockets cool slightly before serving. Optionally, sprinkle with grated Parmesan, red pepper flakes, or fresh basil. Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Customize with your favorite toppings such as sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or cooked sausage.
  • For extra crispiness, these pockets can be cooked in an air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes.
  • Ensure the edges are sealed well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • Let the pockets cool for a few minutes before eating to avoid burning your mouth on hot cheese.
