- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20)
 - 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
 - 4 slices American cheese
 - 4 hamburger buns
 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
 - Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, pickles, mayonnaise
 
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, teriyaki sauce, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix just until combined; do not overwork the meat.
 - Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns.
 - Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
 - Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked to your desired doneness.
 - In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese.
 - Toast the buns if desired.
 - Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom bun and adding any desired toppings.
 - Top with the other half of the bun and serve hot.
 
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
 - For extra flavor, brush the burgers with additional teriyaki sauce while cooking.
