- whipped cream or marshmallows for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until the cocoa is fully dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and continue whisking until melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra richness, substitute half-and-half for 1 cup of the milk.
