Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 8 ounces rice noodles or lo mein noodles
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Sticky Sauce
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Prepare the rice or lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain well and set aside to avoid sticking.
- Make the sticky sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and the cornstarch-water slurry until smooth. Set aside.
- Sear the beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Stir-fry vegetables: In the same skillet, add minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced red bell pepper, and shredded carrots. Stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened and aromatic.
- Combine beef and sauce: Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the prepared sticky sauce and stir continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the beef and vegetables.
- Add noodles and finish: Toss the cooked noodles into the skillet with the beef and vegetables. Mix thoroughly until the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can swap in broccoli, snap peas, or baby corn as alternative vegetables.
- For a spicier kick, add chili flakes or a splash of sriracha to the sauce while cooking.
