Description

Spicy Pickled Eggs are a zesty and flavorful snack or appetizer perfect for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their food. These tangy eggs are pickled in a brine infused with vinegar, spices, and jalapeños, creating a deliciously fiery kick.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pickling Brine:

  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 garlic cloves (smashed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 12 hard-boiled eggs (peeled)
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 2 jalapeños (sliced)

Instructions

  1. Create the Pickling Brine: In a medium saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, peppercorns, mustard seeds, red pepper flakes, garlic, and smoked paprika. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 3–4 minutes. Let the brine cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Eggs: Place hard-boiled eggs, sliced onion, and jalapeños in a clean glass jar. Pour the warm brine over the eggs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Seal tightly and refrigerate for at least 3 days before enjoying.

Notes

  • Use gloves when handling jalapeños.
  • For extra heat, add habanero or hot sauce.
  • Pickled eggs last up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
