Description

Ingredients
Scale
Pie Crust
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
Filling
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
Instructions
- Prepare the Pie Crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the unbaked 9-inch pie crust into a pie dish and crimp the edges as desired to create a decorative border.
- Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the light corn syrup, packed brown sugar, eggs, melted and cooled unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Add Pecans: Stir in the pecan halves thoroughly ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the filling mixture.
- Fill the Pie Crust: Pour the pecan filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading the pecans evenly over the surface.
- Bake the Pie: Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes. The pie is done when the center is set but still slightly jiggles when gently shaken. To prevent over-browning, tent the pie loosely with foil during the last 15 minutes if the crust or pecans brown too quickly.
- Cool the Pie: Remove from oven and let the pie cool completely at room temperature for about 2 hours. This allows the filling to fully set before slicing.
- Serve: Slice the pie and serve as is, or with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent touch.
Notes
- For enhanced flavor, toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until fragrant before adding them to the filling.
- Using dark corn syrup instead of light can provide a richer, deeper taste to the filling.
