Description

These Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Biscuits combine the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with buttery, flaky biscuit dough for a delicious, handheld treat. Filled with sautéed onions, bell peppers, tender roast beef, and melted Monterey Jack cheese, these stuffed biscuits are perfect for a hearty snack, appetizer, or casual meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables & Meat

  • 3/4 cup diced onion
  • 3/4 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1 pound deli roast beef, diced

Dairy & Baking

  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 (16-ounce) can of buttermilk biscuits

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking pan with parchment paper. Place 8 biscuits onto the parchment paper and allow them to warm slightly, making them easier to work with for stuffing.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking for 5 to 6 minutes until softened and fragrant. Season with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavors.
  3. Add Roast Beef and Cheese: Stir in the diced roast beef and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until warmed through. Then add the grated Monterey Jack cheese and mix until the cheese starts to melt. Remove the skillet from heat.
  4. Stuff Biscuits: Carefully pull apart each biscuit slightly to create a pocket. Scoop approximately 1/4 cup of the beef and cheese mixture into each biscuit. Pinch the dough edges together securely to seal in the filling. Repeat this process for all biscuits.
  5. Brush with Butter: Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl. Brush the melted butter evenly over the tops of the stuffed biscuits to ensure a golden, buttery crust when baked.
  6. Bake Biscuits: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 17 to 20 minutes, or until the biscuits turn golden brown and are cooked through. Serve the Philly cheesesteak stuffed biscuits warm for best taste.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overfill the biscuits to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • If you prefer, substitute roast beef with thinly sliced steak or ribeye for a more authentic Philly cheesesteak experience.
  • Monterey Jack cheese melts well, but provolone can be used as a substitute for a sharper flavor.
  • For a spicier twist, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
