Ingredients

Scale

Tuna Salad:

  • 2 (5-ounce) cans tuna (packed in water, drained)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 celery stalk (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 small red onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 dill pickle spear (finely chopped)
  • 1 hard-boiled egg (chopped)
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • optional hot sauce or chopped jalapeño for a kick

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and olive oil. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  2. Add the chopped celery, red onion, pickle, and hard-boiled egg. Stir to combine.
  3. Squeeze in the lemon juice and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  4. For added heat, mix in a dash of hot sauce or finely chopped jalapeño.
  5. Chill in the fridge for 15–30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve on toast, in lettuce wraps, or with crackers.

Notes

  • Matthew McConaughey reportedly enjoys this tuna salad with a bit of extra mustard and pickle for added tang.
  • You can use Greek yogurt instead of mayo for a lighter version.
