Description

This Key Lime Pie Trifle is a refreshing and easy no-bake dessert that combines the tangy flavors of key lime with creamy pudding, whipped cream, and cake. Perfect for summer gatherings or a sweet treat any time of the year.

Pudding Layer:

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup key lime juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest

Whipped Cream Layer:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Trifle Assembly:

  • 1 prepared pound cake or angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers
  • Extra lime zest or slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pudding Layer: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and cold milk until it begins to thicken, about 2 minutes. Whisk in the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, and lime zest until fully combined.
  2. Whipped Cream Layer: In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the key lime mixture to lighten it.
  3. Trifle Assembly: Layer half of the cake cubes in the bottom of a large trifle dish or individual cups. Spoon half of the key lime filling over the cake, then sprinkle with a layer of crushed graham crackers. Repeat the layers one more time. Top with the remaining whipped cream and garnish with lime zest or slices. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
