Description

Jambalaya Alfredo is a creamy, flavorful fusion dish combining classic Cajun jambalaya ingredients like Andouille sausage, chicken, and shrimp with a rich Alfredo sauce tossed with fettuccine pasta. This hearty meal offers a delightful blend of savory spices, tender proteins, and a creamy texture perfect for an indulgent weeknight dinner in about 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta

Proteins

  • 1/2 lb Andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1/2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, diced
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce & Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Brown Sausage: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced Andouille sausage and cook until browned and slightly crispy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Cook Chicken: Add diced chicken breast to the skillet with the sausage and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is no longer pink inside, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Cook Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Set Meat Aside: Remove the cooked sausage, chicken, and shrimp from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  6. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  7. Prepare Alfredo Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, smoked paprika, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly, creating a rich and creamy consistency.
  8. Combine Meat with Sauce: Return the cooked sausage, chicken, and shrimp back into the skillet. Stir well to coat the meat evenly with the Alfredo sauce.
  9. Toss Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss all ingredients together to combine fully and heat through evenly.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top for a burst of color and freshness. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Ensure shrimp is peeled and deveined before cooking for best texture.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the creamiest sauce.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to your preferred spice level.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but the sauce will be less thick.
  • Serve with crusty bread or a side salad for a complete meal.
