Description

This Honey Garlic Butter Steak and Rice Skillet is a savory and sweet one-pan meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. Tender sirloin steak is seared to perfection and combined with fragrant garlic, honey, and soy sauce, all cooked together with rice in a delicious beef broth. The result is a flavorful dish that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak:

  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional)

Rice:

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth

Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the Steak: Season the steak pieces with salt and black pepper.
  2. Sear the Steak: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and sear the steak in batches for 2–3 minutes per side. Remove steak and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar, and simmer.
  4. Cook the Rice: Add the uncooked rice to the skillet, coat in the sauce, pour in beef broth, simmer, cover, and cook for 15–18 minutes.
  5. Finish the Dish: Return the steak to the skillet, cook until steak is fully cooked and heated through. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can swap sirloin for flank or ribeye steak.
  • Add steamed broccoli or peas for a complete one-pan meal.
  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
