- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
Additional Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked crumbled bacon or diced jalapeños (optional)

- For Honey Butter Glaze: 2 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
- Main Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Wet Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and honey. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Additional Ingredients: Fold in cheddar cheese and optional bacon or jalapeños.
- Frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Drop spoonfuls of batter into oil and fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Honey Butter Glaze: Melt butter, stir in honey, and brush over warm poppers before serving.
