Description

This Homestyle Apple Pie Bread is a delightful twist on classic apple pie flavors in a moist and tender quick bread. Loaded with diced apples and warm spices, this bread is perfect for breakfast or as a comforting snack with a cup of tea.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Cream the butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add wet ingredients: Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the sour cream and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Combine dry and wet mixtures: Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in apples and nuts: Fold in the diced apples and nuts if using.
  7. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and serve: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
  • This bread tastes even better the next day after the flavors meld.
  • Store tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
