Ingredients
Scale
Gelatin Mixture
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup Unflavoured Gelatin Powder
- 3/4 cup Pickle brine
- 1 tbsp Honey
- Food Colouring (Optional)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a small pot, whisk together the unflavoured gelatin powder and the pickle brine. Add the honey and continue whisking until the honey is somewhat dissolved.
- Heat Mixture: Place the pot over medium heat and stir continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Then reduce the heat to the lowest setting to keep warm but not boil.
- Add Colouring (Optional): If desired, add a few drops of food colouring to the warm gelatin mixture and stir to combine evenly.
- Fill Molds: Working quickly, use an eye dropper or pipette to transfer the gelatin mixture into clean gummy worm molds, carefully filling each cavity.
- Set Gummies: Let the molds sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to begin setting, then refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes until fully set. Alternatively, allow them to set entirely at room temperature for about an hour.
- Remove and Store: Once fully set, carefully pop the gummy worms out of the molds and store them in an airtight container or zipper bag to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Allowing the mixture to gel slightly at room temperature before refrigerating helps avoid spills when transferring.
- Adjust the amount of gelatin powder between 1/4 to 1/3 cup depending on your preferred gummy firmness.
- Food colouring is optional and can be omitted or replaced with natural dyes for customized gummy colors.
- Use clean gummy molds for best results, silicone molds work particularly well for easy release.
- Store gummies in a cool, dry place if not consuming immediately to maintain texture and flavor.
