Ingredients
Scale
Beef Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Crunchwrap Components
- 6 large flour tortillas
- 6 small tostada shells
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup jalapeños (optional)
Cooking Oil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat to keep the filling less greasy.
- Season the Beef: Add the taco seasoning packet and 2/3 cup water to the browned beef. Stir well and let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Set the beef mixture aside.
- Heat Cooking Oil: In a separate large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat to prepare for toasting the Crunchwraps.
- Assemble the Crunchwrap: Lay one large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center, layer a portion of the seasoned ground beef, followed by a tostada shell. Add a dollop of sour cream, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese, then layer shredded lettuce, diced tomato, red onion, and jalapeños if using.
- Fold the Tortilla: Fold the edges of the large flour tortilla up and over the filling, pleating it to enclose the ingredients completely and pinching the folds tightly in the center to seal the wrap.
- Cook the Crunchwrap: Carefully place the wrapped Crunchwrap seam-side down into the heated skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden and crispy. Flip it over and cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden brown and heated through.
- Repeat Assembly and Cooking: Repeat the assembling and cooking procedure with the remaining tortillas and ingredients, adding rest of the olive oil as needed to prevent sticking.
- Serve: Slice each Crunchwrap Supreme in half or quarters and serve hot for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- You can customize the filling with beans or grilled vegetables for a vegetarian version.
- Using low-fat sour cream or Greek yogurt can reduce fat content.
- Be careful when folding the tortilla edges to avoid tearing and spillage of filling.
- Serve with salsa or guacamole for extra flavor.
- The jalapeños are optional and can be omitted or adjusted for heat preference.
