Description

Delightfully festive Green Velvet Cupcakes featuring a moist and tender milk chocolate cake base infused with vibrant green food coloring, topped with a luscious and creamy cream cheese frosting perfect for celebrations or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Green Velvet Cake

  • 1 box Milk Chocolate cake mix
  • 1â…“ cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 (1-oz) bottle green food coloring

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ÂĽ cup butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 (16-oz) box powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ÂşF (175ÂşC) and prepare a muffin pan by lining each cup with paper liners to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Batter: In a medium bowl, combine the milk chocolate cake mix, buttermilk, oil, eggs, and green food coloring. Mix thoroughly according to the cake mix package instructions until smooth and evenly colored.
  3. Fill Muffin Cups: Using a large scoop, drop heaping scoops of the batter evenly into each muffin cup, filling them appropriately without spilling.
  4. Bake: Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Prepare Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, softened butter, sour cream, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  6. Add Sugar: Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar into the cream cheese mixture, continuing to beat until smooth and spreadable.
  7. Frost Cupcakes: Once the cupcakes have fully cooled, generously spread the cream cheese frosting on top of each cupcake.

Notes

  • Make sure the cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting the cream cheese frosting.
  • For a more intense green color, you can add a few extra drops of green food coloring.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese and butter for the best texture and flavor in the frosting.
  • Store frosted cupcakes in the refrigerator to keep the cream cheese frosting fresh.
  • If desired, sprinkle some green sugar or edible glitter on top for extra festive decoration.
