Description

This Frankenstein Pasta recipe is a fun and festive Halloween dish perfect for kids and family gatherings. Spinach pasta or regular pasta dyed green is topped with mozzarella cheese eyes, halved black olives for pupils and hair, and cucumber slices for Frankenstein’s iconic bolts. Ready in just 20 minutes, it combines simple ingredients with creative presentation to make a spooky yet delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pasta

  • 1 package spinach pasta (or regular pasta with green food coloring)
  • Salt, for boiling water
  • 1020 drops green food coloring (optional, if using regular pasta)
  • 1/4 cup butter

For the Decoration

  • 1 medium cucumber, sliced
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese, cut into large circles
  • 1 (6 oz) jar pitted black olives, halved

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spinach pasta and cook according to the package instructions. If using regular pasta and you want it green, add 10-20 drops of green food coloring to the boiling water. For a deeper green color, add more food coloring after draining the pasta.
  2. Drain and Butter: Drain the pasta and return it to the pot. Stir in the butter until it melts evenly, coating the pasta.
  3. Arrange the Pasta: Spread the buttered pasta evenly on a large rectangular platter, approximately 20 inches by 12 inches, to create the base for Frankenstein’s face.
  4. Make the Eyes: Place the large mozzarella cheese circles on the pasta as eyes, positioning them toward the center.
  5. Add Olives for Eyes and Hair: Place halved black olives on top of the mozzarella circles to form pupils. Then, use the remaining olives to create Frankenstein’s hair at the top of the platter and his mouth at the bottom.
  6. Add the Bolts: Cut off the ends of the cucumber and place the slices on either side of the pasta face to represent Frankenstein’s bolts.
  7. Serve: Invite kids to customize their Frankenstein pasta if desired, then serve immediately to enjoy this spooky and tasty Halloween creation.

Notes

  • You can use spinach pasta for natural green color or regular pasta with green food coloring for a festive touch.
  • Adjust the number of black olives to create different hair and facial expressions.
  • Butter adds flavor and helps the pasta stick together on the platter.
  • Serve immediately for best texture, as pasta can become soggy if left too long.
  • This recipe is great as a fun main dish or part of a Halloween party spread.
