For the Salisbury Steak Patties:
- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For the Gravy:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
For Garnish:
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Salisbury Steak Patties: In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, cook the sliced onion until softened. Add beef broth and simmer. Whisk together cornstarch and water, then add to the skillet. Return patties to the pan, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley if desired and serve hot.
