Description

This easy homemade garlic bread spread is a flavorful combination of butter, garlic, herbs, and Parmesan cheese. Perfect for slathering on bread before toasting or baking to create delicious garlic bread.

Garlic Bread Spread:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced or finely grated)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well blended and smooth.
  2. If using Parmesan cheese, stir it in last.
  3. Spread the mixture generously on sliced French bread or baguette halves.
  4. For toasted garlic bread, place the prepared bread under the broiler for 2–4 minutes until golden and bubbly, or bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes.
  5. Serve warm.

  • Store leftover spread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • You can also add a bit of olive oil for a silkier texture or use roasted garlic for a sweeter flavor.
