Description

Crispy and sweet Cinnamon-Sugar Air Fryer Banana Chips are a healthy and delicious snack made with ripe but firm bananas coated in a cinnamon-sugar mixture. These air-fried chips are quick to prepare, naturally gluten-free and vegan, making them perfect for a guilt-free treat or a tasty topping for yogurt and oatmeal.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Chips

  • 2 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare lemon water: In a small bowl, mix the lemon juice and water to create a solution that will prevent the banana slices from browning.
  2. Slice bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into thin, even rounds about 1/8-inch thick to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  3. Toss banana slices: Gently toss the banana slices in the lemon water mixture to prevent oxidation and browning before cooking.
  4. Mix cinnamon sugar: In another small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon to create the coating for the chips.
  5. Prepare air fryer: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Arrange and season: Arrange banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Lightly spray the tops of the slices with cooking spray, then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Air fry: Cook at 330°F (165°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through to ensure even crisping. Watch carefully during the last few minutes to prevent burning.
  8. Cool and repeat: Let the chips cool in the basket for several minutes; they will become crispier as they cool. Repeat the process with remaining banana slices if needed.

Notes

  • Thicker banana slices yield chewier chips, while thinner slices result in crispier chips.
  • Store cooled banana chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • These chips are excellent for snacking on their own or as a crunchy topping for yogurt and oatmeal.
