Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Sauce
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ cup buffalo sauce
Vegetables
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
Sandwich Assembly
- 4 hoagie rolls, split and lightly toasted
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing for serving
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced chicken breasts, season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 6–7 minutes until the chicken is browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
- Add buffalo sauce: Stir in the buffalo sauce, tossing the chicken to coat evenly. Remove from heat.
- Sauté vegetables: In a separate skillet, sauté the sliced onion and green bell pepper over medium heat until softened and caramelized, about 8 minutes.
- Prepare the rolls: Preheat your broiler on low. Place the hoagie rolls split-side up on a baking sheet and lightly toast if not already done.
- Assemble sandwiches: Layer the buffalo chicken, sautéed onions, and peppers evenly inside each hoagie roll.
- Add cheese and broil: Top each sandwich with 2 slices of provolone cheese. Place under the broiler for 2–3 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from oven, drizzle sandwiches with ranch or blue cheese dressing, sprinkle with chopped parsley if using, and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra heat, use hotter buffalo sauce or add sliced jalapeños.
- Swap provolone cheese with mozzarella or pepper jack cheese for a different flavor.
- For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free hoagie rolls.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
