Description

A rich and comforting Black Pepper Chicken with Mushrooms recipe featuring tender boneless chicken breasts cooked in a creamy peppery sauce with sautéed garlic and mushrooms. Perfect for a flavorful weeknight dinner served over rice, pasta, or with crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless Chicken Breasts
  • Salt, to taste
  • 23 tbsp freshly cracked Black Pepper (adjust to taste)

Mushroom Sauce

  • 8 oz Button Mushrooms or Cremini Mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the skillet and cook chicken: In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breasts with salt and half of the black pepper, then add them to the pan. Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  2. Sauté garlic and mushrooms: In the same pan, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, then sauté for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms are soft and golden brown.
  3. Deglaze and add liquids: Pour in the chicken broth and soy sauce, stirring well to combine and scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan to maximize flavor.
  4. Combine chicken and cream: Lower the heat to medium, return the cooked chicken breasts to the pan. Pour the heavy cream over the chicken and mushrooms, and sprinkle in the remaining black pepper. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  5. Simmer sauce: Let the dish simmer for 5-7 minutes allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and for the flavors to meld beautifully.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the dish and serve warm over your choice of rice, pasta, or with crusty bread for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Adjust black pepper quantity according to your preferred spice level.
  • Button mushrooms can be substituted with cremini or baby bellas for a deeper flavor.
  • Ensure the chicken is cooked through but not overcooked to maintain juiciness.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice, buttery pasta, or crusty artisan bread to soak up the creamy sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
