Description
Refresh yourself with this vibrant and easy-to-make Berry Lemonade recipe, combining fresh berries and zesty lemon juice for a perfectly balanced summer drink that’s both sweet and tangy. Ideal for gatherings or a cooling treat on a hot day.
Ingredients
Scale
Berry Syrup
- 1 cup mixed fresh or frozen berries (such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
Lemonade
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
- Extra berries for garnish (optional)
- Mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make Berry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the berries break down and the syrup thickens slightly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the heat.
- Strain the Syrup: Pour the warm mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing gently to extract the juices. Discard the solids and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
- Combine Lemonade: In a large pitcher, mix the fresh lemon juice, cooled berry syrup, and the remaining 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Adjust Flavor: Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice if desired.
- Chill: Refrigerate the lemonade until well chilled, about 1 hour or more.
- Serve: Pour the chilled berry lemonade over ice cubes in glasses. Garnish with lemon slices, extra berries, and mint leaves if desired for a fresh presentation.
Notes
- For a sparkling version, replace 1–2 cups of the cold water with club soda or sparkling water just before serving.
- Blend the berries directly into the lemonade instead of making a syrup for a thicker, smoothie-like consistency.
- Use fresh lemons when possible for best flavor, but bottled lemon juice works in a pinch.
- Adjust the amount of sugar according to your sweetness preference or substitute with honey or agave syrup.
- Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for optimal freshness.
