Ingredients
Scale
Meatballs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Honey Garlic Sauce
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Meatballs: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, milk, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix gently until just combined to avoid tough meatballs. Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes until they are cooked through and nicely browned on the outside.
- Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and rice vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) and continue to simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove the saucepan from heat.
- Coat Meatballs in Sauce: Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the honey garlic sauce over them and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Serve: Serve the meatballs hot. Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation. These meatballs can be enjoyed as a tasty appetizer or served over rice for a fulfilling meal.
Notes
- These meatballs can also be made with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter alternative.
- Perfect as a party appetizer or served over rice for a complete meal.
- You can double the sauce quantity if you prefer meatballs extra saucy.
