Description

Baked French Dip Biscuits are crispy, buttery biscuit cups filled with thinly sliced roast beef and melted provolone cheese. Served warm with a savory au jus dipping sauce, these bite-sized treats are perfect as appetizers or a main course, bringing the classic flavors of a French dip sandwich into a fun, easy-to-eat form.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuit Cups

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 count)
  • 1/2 pound deli roast beef (thinly sliced)
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (halved)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Au Jus Dipping Sauce

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Biscuit Cups: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin. Flatten each biscuit slightly and press into the muffin cups, shaping them into cup-like forms to hold the fillings.
  2. Fill with Beef and Cheese: Take a slice of roast beef, fold it, and place inside each biscuit cup. Add a half slice of provolone cheese on top of the beef within the biscuit cup.
  3. Apply Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley if using. Brush this flavorful mixture over the tops of each biscuit cup to enhance browning and taste.
  4. Bake the Biscuit Cups: Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 15–18 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese inside melts beautifully.
  5. Make the Au Jus Sauce: While the biscuits bake, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5–7 minutes to develop rich, savory flavors.
  6. Serve: Remove the biscuit cups from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Serve warm alongside the au jus dipping sauce for an authentic dipping experience.

Notes

  • You can substitute crescent dough or homemade biscuit dough if preferred.
  • For extra flavor, add caramelized onions or a dollop of horseradish sauce inside the biscuit cups before baking.
  • The au jus can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
  • Ensure the biscuits are fully baked to avoid any doughy texture inside the cups.
