Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped pickled jalapeños (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Wrap and Baking
- 4 large flour tortillas
- Cooking spray or a small amount of oil for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Make the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar, chopped green onions, diced red bell pepper, chopped pickled jalapeños, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are well blended.
- Assemble the tortillas: Lay out the flour tortillas on a clean surface. Evenly spread the cheese mixture over each tortilla, covering the entire surface for a consistent flavor in every bite.
- Roll and slice: Roll each tortilla tightly into a log shape. Using a sharp knife, slice each log into 1 to 1.5-inch wide pinwheels, ensuring neat, uniform pieces.
- Bake the pinwheels: Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the tortillas turn golden brown and the cheese filling is bubbly.
- Cool and serve: Remove the pinwheels from the oven and allow them to cool slightly so they firm up a bit. Serve warm with your choice of salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.
Notes
- You can prepare the filling in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, making assembly quicker.
- Adjust the heat level by adding extra jalapeños or a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce to the filling mixture for a spicier kick.
